Katie Celebrates St. Joseph’s Day

For those of you that don’t know, St Joseph’s Day is March 19 (which also happens to be my birthday 🙂 ). St. Joe’s is a traditionally Italian holiday, so I spoke with one of Chicago’s oldest Italian bakeries and found out that March 19 is their busiest day of the year. They bake hundreds of zeppole–a custard-filled, deep-friend dough ball–to prepare. Read my full interview with D’Amato’s Bakery’s owner on RedEye’s website now!
